Why Can't I Get Pass The First Stage In Parappa The Rapper!?

This might make me look like a total casual, but I'll post it anyway. They must have made the PSP version extra difficult for people who have mastered the PS1 version. I'm a musician! I should be good at these rhythm games, but I literally can't beat that stupid onion man.
