Japanese Whisky

To celebrate my younger brother Kin getting 75 subscribers on his YouTube channel, I bought a bottle of Nikka Whisky From The Barrel on Amazon (you just need to show ID on delivery to prove you're over 18 in the UK). We had a whisky and Coke, Japanese style! When I bought it I thought: "Oh nice! It's from the barrel", but then after thinking about it, I thought: "Isn't ALL whisky from the barrel?" Kin loved this one, he said it's one of the best whiskys he's ever drunk. He said it's "Oaky", and "What you would expect a whisky to taste like". I agree it tastes more like a whisky we are used to but it has a distinct taste that I think might be from its Japanese production/origin. Also, it has a unusually high alcohol percentage (51.4%). I prefer the Tenjaku to be honest (the one we got to celebrate his 50 subscribers), it's more mellow...
